At a New England boarding school, a sex scandal is about to break. Even more shocking than the sexual acts themselves is the fact that they were caught on videotape. A Pandora's box of revelations, the tape triggers a chorus of voices--those of the men, women, teenagers, and parents involved in the scandal--that details the ways in which lives can be derailed or destroyed in one foolish moment. Writing with a pace and intensity surpassing even her own greatest work, Anita Shreve delivers in TESTIMONY a gripping emotional drama with the impact of a thriller. No one more compellingly explores the dark impulses that sway the lives of seeming innocents, the needs and fears that drive ordinary men and women into intolerable dilemmas, and the ways in which our best intentions can lead to our worst transgressions.

The Last Time They Met is the first book in English- Im originally Polish that I (finally) really enjoyed despite the language barrier. Thank you so much for that as it can be my 'entrance' to English world of books. Reading this particular book was incredible for me and very emotionally touching as it reminds me of my ex boyfriend who I hope to meet again like Linda did after many years... Literally I had to stop at some moments since some of your thoughts that you put in Linda's mind are almost the same as mine when I think of my dear R. Thank you so much for that intense experience- no book before brought me to tears like this one. This book is just REAL.

Anita, PLEASE DO NOT focus on the negative guests' comments.
Posted by: Guest | August 6, 2009, 7:05 amJust in July I became a fan of your style and themes by first reading The Pilot's Wife...followed by Body Surfing; The Last Time They Met; All He Ever Wanted; The Weight of Water; and now, Fortune's Rocks. I look forward to reading all of your books, especially Testimony.
The general public does need educated about these realistic themes and especially of what devastation alcohol or other drugs does (or any addiction) to destroy the potential for healthy lives, families and society. Their anger would be most well-spent toward those who make a fortune by promoting ill-health via greed, alcohol and other drugs. Only when their families are ruined by them will they know the heartache involved. Keep up the good work.
One of those books where I am so sad for it to end. I wonder how noelle is doing...and, as I go through the book again, I am trying to figure out whether Silas killed himself for whether he died from the cold temp...did I miss something? I am currently down at the beach and I will stop by the bookstore today for Sea Glass. (I read it in one day...thank goodness for sunblock and a big hat or I would be as red as a lobster...I just couln't put it down)
Posted by: cami | June 17, 2009, 9:03 amA friend read Testimony and lent it to me with instructions to read it in a week in order to return to the library. It was devoured in 3 days. Brilliant!! Her best work!! Loved it!!
Posted by: Laurie | April 13, 2009, 2:06 pmI spent two days last weekend, with a log fire, a country cottage and Testimony. I love Ms Shreve's work and have read all of it, but this was the strongest, the most intense, with the most haunting 'aftertaste' and lots of difficult questions left in the reader's mind. Brilliantly complex structure, totally controlled. Thank you.
Posted by: morag | February 20, 2009, 3:11 pmyou, ma'am are a hack...acknowledge your inspiration or remove your book from publication! this episode ruined lives, and does not need to be published so that others may read about it. also, I wonder who you are referring to in your video as 'characters' speaking. Why would you try to capitalize on the tragedy of others? especially teenagers! you should be ashamed of yourself for such a move!
Posted by: Guest | January 18, 2009, 12:37 amI got this book upon a recommendation that I saw on a message board online. I had never read any of Ms. Shreve's books, but I most definitely will read her now. This book was very good.
Posted by: Guest | January 15, 2009, 7:21 amI did get the book but could not get into it. I have read several of Ms. Shreve's books but this one was boring to me.
